Good morning. And when the
Chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the unfading crown of glory. The word
translated unfading is the same one used way back in chapter 1 which says that
we have an inheritance which is imperishable and undefiled and will not fade
away. Clothe yourselves with humility toward one another, for God is opposed to
the proud, but gives grace to the humble. So when you put your clothes on in
the morning, also put on your humility. Humble yourselves, therefore, under the
mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you at the proper time. Notice that we
have to do the humbling. We can't fight the battle ourselves, so we need to
hide under God's mighty hand. And how do we humble ourselves? By casting all of
our anxiety upon Him, because He cares for us. But God… When we are anxious
about something, then all of the pressure is upon us to succeed. We have to
humble ourselves and trust God that in His timing everything will work out as
it should. It is easier said than done. Be of sober spirit, be on the alert.
Your adversary, the devil, prowls about like a roaring lion, seeking someone to
devour. If you are anxious about something, then you're the one trying to solve
the problem. That makes you easy prey for the devil. I know some have said that
he is just a toothless lion roaring; but he is seeking someone to devour - not
someone to roar at to scare them. Father thank You that the reader humbles him/herself
under Your mighty hand. He/she is anxious for nothing, casting his/her anxiety
upon You.
So the other disciple who had first come to the tomb then also entered, and he saw and believed
Good morning. We left John at the entrance of the tomb, stooping and looking in. “Shy” Peter then arrives following John, and enters the tomb; and he saw the linen wrappings lying there. So the other disciple, John, who had first come to the tomb then also entered, and he saw and believed. It does not say whether or not Peter believed. For as yet they did not understand the scripture, that He must rise again from the dead. So the disciples went away again to their own homes. I’m not exactly sure what it means by their own homes. They were originally from Galilee and would not have had homes in Jerusalem. Perhaps it means the homes where they were staying while in Jerusalem. Apparently, they were not staying in the upper room, or it would have said so. But Mary was standing outside the tomb weeping; and so, as she wept, she stooped (just like John) and looked into the tomb. She saw two angels in white sitting, one at the head and one at the feet, where the body of Jesus had been l...
