Good morning. Today we
start with second Peter. I think I said before just how poetical this first
chapter is. So many times things come in pairs. Peter is writing to those who
have received a faith of the same kind as his. Apostles did not receive a different
kind of faith than we did. It may be a lot stronger because they have exercised
it. By the righteousness of our God and Savior Jesus Christ. Grace and peace be
multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord. (we already
have a few pairs). Seeing that His divine power has granted to us everything
pertaining to life and godliness, through the true knowledge of Him who called
us by His own glory and excellence. We have everything we need through His
divine power. Of course it wasn't to spend on our own pleasure; it was so that
we could live a godly life. People say that they have a knowledge of Jesus; but
too many times it is not a true knowledge based on the word of God. They try to
make Jesus fit their own idea of what He should be like. It was by His glory
and excellence that He granted to us His precious and magnificent promises, in
order that by them you might become partakers of the divine nature, having
escaped the corruption that is in the world by lust. Why did He grant us those
promises – so that we could partake of His divine nature. That's what it is all
about. It was not just to solve all of our problems, but to make us more like Jesus.
Father thank You that the reader is a partaker of Your divine nature. He/she
has all of the promises and power that he/she needs to live the Christian life.
He/she is an excellent representative of You.
So the other disciple who had first come to the tomb then also entered, and he saw and believed
Good morning. We left John at the entrance of the tomb, stooping and looking in. “Shy” Peter then arrives following John, and enters the tomb; and he saw the linen wrappings lying there. So the other disciple, John, who had first come to the tomb then also entered, and he saw and believed. It does not say whether or not Peter believed. For as yet they did not understand the scripture, that He must rise again from the dead. So the disciples went away again to their own homes. I’m not exactly sure what it means by their own homes. They were originally from Galilee and would not have had homes in Jerusalem. Perhaps it means the homes where they were staying while in Jerusalem. Apparently, they were not staying in the upper room, or it would have said so. But Mary was standing outside the tomb weeping; and so, as she wept, she stooped (just like John) and looked into the tomb. She saw two angels in white sitting, one at the head and one at the feet, where the body of Jesus had been l...
