Good morning. And now a
great warning: for if God did not spare angels when they sinned, but cast them
into hell and committed them to pits of darkness, reserved for judgment; and
did not spare the ancient world, but preserved Noah, a preacher of righteousness,
with seven others, when He brought a flood upon the world of the ungodly;
(Sodom & Lot), then the Lord knows how to rescue the godly from temptation
( Remember the Lord's Prayer: " lead us not into temptation"), and to
keep the unrighteous under punishment for the day of judgment. He goes on and
on about these ungodly people. They speak out arrogant words of vanity while
they entice those who barely escape from the ones who live in error, promising
them freedom while they are slaves of corruption. This is true in many walks of
life, not just in religion. "Be exactly like us, and you will be
free". The people who say such things do not realize that they themselves
have no freedom – they are enslaved to their beliefs. For by what a man is overcome,
by this he is enslaved. They actually believe that they have freedom. But Peter
says: if after they have escaped the defilements of the world by the knowledge
of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, they are again entangled in them and are
overcome, the last state has become worse for them than the first. That is
pretty ominous. We will finish his comment tomorrow. Father thank You that the
reader refuses to listen to those who are living in error. He/she follows You
with all of his/her heart.
So the other disciple who had first come to the tomb then also entered, and he saw and believed
Good morning. We left John at the entrance of the tomb, stooping and looking in. “Shy” Peter then arrives following John, and enters the tomb; and he saw the linen wrappings lying there. So the other disciple, John, who had first come to the tomb then also entered, and he saw and believed. It does not say whether or not Peter believed. For as yet they did not understand the scripture, that He must rise again from the dead. So the disciples went away again to their own homes. I’m not exactly sure what it means by their own homes. They were originally from Galilee and would not have had homes in Jerusalem. Perhaps it means the homes where they were staying while in Jerusalem. Apparently, they were not staying in the upper room, or it would have said so. But Mary was standing outside the tomb weeping; and so, as she wept, she stooped (just like John) and looked into the tomb. She saw two angels in white sitting, one at the head and one at the feet, where the body of Jesus had been l...
