Good morning. Continuing
where we left off with - the last state has become worse for them than the
first: for it would be better for them not to have known the way of
righteousness, than having known it, to turn away from the holy commandment
delivered to them. It has happened to them according to the true proverb
"a dog returns to its own vomit", and here is the pig quote – "A
sow, after washing, returns to its wallowing in the mire". That's not very
appetizing. They will of course be very miserable; but they will blame
Christianity not their own actions for their misery. They will in fact behave
worse than before. He reminds them about the words spoken beforehand by the
holy prophets and the commandment of the Lord and Savior spoken by your
apostles. As we've said before, it is good and necessary to be reminded of
things that we have heard before. And then something that will become worse and
worse: in the last days mockers will come with their mocking, following after
their own lusts, and saying "where is the promise of His coming? For ever
since the fathers fell asleep, all continues just as it was from the beginning
of creation". The sad thing is that it won't just be unbelievers that will
be saying this. It will even be Christians asking the same question. We should
keep our lives pure so that if He did come today we would be ready; but at the
same time we should keep ourselves steady just in case He does not come until
after we die. We should not become discouraged if He does not come in what we
would call a short time. Father thank You that the reader stays steadfast and
true. He/she does not listen to those who try to persuade people away from
Christianity. He/she will keep on keeping on no matter when Jesus returns.
So the other disciple who had first come to the tomb then also entered, and he saw and believed
Good morning. We left John at the entrance of the tomb, stooping and looking in. “Shy” Peter then arrives following John, and enters the tomb; and he saw the linen wrappings lying there. So the other disciple, John, who had first come to the tomb then also entered, and he saw and believed. It does not say whether or not Peter believed. For as yet they did not understand the scripture, that He must rise again from the dead. So the disciples went away again to their own homes. I’m not exactly sure what it means by their own homes. They were originally from Galilee and would not have had homes in Jerusalem. Perhaps it means the homes where they were staying while in Jerusalem. Apparently, they were not staying in the upper room, or it would have said so. But Mary was standing outside the tomb weeping; and so, as she wept, she stooped (just like John) and looked into the tomb. She saw two angels in white sitting, one at the head and one at the feet, where the body of Jesus had been l...
