Good morning. Continuing
in Romans chapter 8. Last time we talked about God causes all things to work
together for our good. Talking about us: for whom He foreknew, He also
predestined to become conformed to the image of His Son. We are destined to
become conformed to the image of Jesus Christ; and of course He is the image of
God the Father. That is what we are guaranteed to become. It is our destiny.
And why did God do this? That He might be the firstborn among many brethren. He
didn't just pick us and leave us alone. He also called us; justified us: and
glorified us. It's a done deal. What then shall we say to these things? If God
is for us, who is against us? Like the song says: God is on our side – we shall
overcome. He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all,
how will He not also with Him freely give us all things? Everything else pales
in comparison. Anything He does for us now is nothing by comparison. Who will
bring a charge against God's elect? God is the One who justifies; who is the
one who condemns? Christ Jesus is He who died, yes, rather who was raised, who
is at the right hand of God, who also intercedes for us. Yes He died for us –
praise God! But He's not still dead; He is alive forever more! All the other
religious leaders are dead; but our leader Christ Jesus is still alive. It says
that He intercedes for us. If He were still in the tomb He could not do that
for us. The other religious leaders who are dead can't help their followers.
And then another super powerful verse: Who shall separate us from the love of
Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or
nakedness, or peril, or sword? In other words, there is nothing that can
separate us from the love of God. But in all these things we overwhelmingly
conqueror through Him who loved us. Neither death, life, angels,
principalities, things present, things to come, powers, height, depth, nor any
other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which
is in Christ Jesus our Lord! Father thank You that the reader is conformed to
the image of Christ. Nothing shall separate him/her from Your love. He/she
shall overwhelmingly conquer!
So the other disciple who had first come to the tomb then also entered, and he saw and believed
Good morning. We left John at the entrance of the tomb, stooping and looking in. “Shy” Peter then arrives following John, and enters the tomb; and he saw the linen wrappings lying there. So the other disciple, John, who had first come to the tomb then also entered, and he saw and believed. It does not say whether or not Peter believed. For as yet they did not understand the scripture, that He must rise again from the dead. So the disciples went away again to their own homes. I’m not exactly sure what it means by their own homes. They were originally from Galilee and would not have had homes in Jerusalem. Perhaps it means the homes where they were staying while in Jerusalem. Apparently, they were not staying in the upper room, or it would have said so. But Mary was standing outside the tomb weeping; and so, as she wept, she stooped (just like John) and looked into the tomb. She saw two angels in white sitting, one at the head and one at the feet, where the body of Jesus had been l...
