Good morning. We're back
in the book of Corinthians. Lest one think that there is nothing for us in this
Christian life: "things which eye has not seen and ear has not heard, and
which have not entered the heart of man, all that God has prepared for those
who love Him". Wow! We can't even imagine what God has prepared for us.
And yet: for to us God revealed them through the Spirit; for the Spirit
searches all things, even the depths of God. God lets us know what is in store
for us, if we will only listen to Him who is within. For who among men knows
the thoughts of a man except the spirit of the man, which is within him? Even so
the thoughts of God no one knows except the Spirit of God. The Holy Spirit is
our connection to the thoughts of God. What He knows, we can know. Now we have
received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we
might know the things freely given to us by God. The spirit of the world will
lead to its destruction. It is the driving force behind all evil. All these
things which God has prepared for us – He has freely, not begrudgingly, given
to us. Which things we also speak, not in words taught by human wisdom (there's
that wisdom thing again), but in those taught by the Spirit, combining
spiritual thoughts with spiritual words. Father thank You that You have
prepared things that we cannot imagine, even for us. Reveal those things to the
reader. Help him/her to know what You have in store for him/her – and to
eagerly anticipate their arrival.
So the other disciple who had first come to the tomb then also entered, and he saw and believed
Good morning. We left John at the entrance of the tomb, stooping and looking in. “Shy” Peter then arrives following John, and enters the tomb; and he saw the linen wrappings lying there. So the other disciple, John, who had first come to the tomb then also entered, and he saw and believed. It does not say whether or not Peter believed. For as yet they did not understand the scripture, that He must rise again from the dead. So the disciples went away again to their own homes. I’m not exactly sure what it means by their own homes. They were originally from Galilee and would not have had homes in Jerusalem. Perhaps it means the homes where they were staying while in Jerusalem. Apparently, they were not staying in the upper room, or it would have said so. But Mary was standing outside the tomb weeping; and so, as she wept, she stooped (just like John) and looked into the tomb. She saw two angels in white sitting, one at the head and one at the feet, where the body of Jesus had been l...
