In them you also once walked. But now you also, put them all aside.

Good morning. Last time we ended with Paul saying, “in them you also once walked“. But now you also, put them (the same “them“) all aside. Now what does he say “them” is: anger, wrath, malice, slander, and abusive speech from your mouth. It doesn’t sound like the same “them“. And then another bad thing coming through your mouth: do not lie to one another, since you laid aside the old self with its evil practices (all those bad things from yesterday). The evil things we saw before may or may not have come out of one’s mouth, but they all originated in the same place - your heart. For out of the heart the mouth speaks. And not only have we put off the old self, but we have also put on the new self who is being renewed to a true knowledge according to the image of the One who created him. All of this is related back to having died to the old; being raised up; and setting our minds on the things above. If you can control your mouth, you can control most anything else. Father help us to “watch our mouth“. Thank You that we have put off the old self and put on the new.
