Whatever you do, do you work heartily, as for the Lord rather than for men.

Good morning. And now an important admonition: whatever you do, do you work heartily, as for the Lord rather than for men. With its juxtaposition to the words concerning slaves and masters, that is what it was probably intended to be about; but it applies to everything in our lives. This is not just for the workplace, but in everything we do whether for ourselves or for God. There are too many Christians who do their job half heartedly because of some disagreement or conflict at work. We should do it unto the Lord. Why – knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance. For it is the Lord Christ whom you serve (which seems to refer back to slaves serving their masters). For he who does wrong will receive the consequences of the wrong which he has done, and that without partiality. Father help us to do everything as unto You to the best of our ability.
