Good morning. Now as they
observed the confidence of Peter and John and understood that they were
uneducated and untrained men, they were amazed, and began to recognize them as
having been with Jesus. Of course they didn’t have schools like we do. The average
person did not need to know a lot of things; especially women. John probably
had more than most since his father was well enough off to hire workers to fish
for him, and John was known by the high priest’s servant. They were probably
talking about untrained in the rabbinical school concerning Scriptures. Notice
that they recognized them as having been with Jesus. Can people say that about
us? And seeing the man who had been healed standing with them, they had nothing
to say in reply. How could they? It was impossible to argue with success! But
when they had ordered them to leave the council, they began to confer with one
another, saying, what shall we do with these men? For the fact that a
noteworthy miracle has taken place through them is apparent to all who live in
Jerusalem, and we cannot deny it. But so that it will not spread any further
among the people, let us order them to speak no longer to any man in this name.
They were afraid of the truth being told. Peter and John were not like most
people; they were not afraid of being put out of the synagogue. We will
continue this next time. Father help us to live our lives so that people will
recognize that we have been with Jesus!
Unless one is born of water and the Spirit he cannot enter into the kingdom of God
Good morning. While Jesus was in Jerusalem at the Passover, during the feast, many believed in His name, observing His signs which He was doing. Jesus was not entrusting Himself to them, for He knew all men. Now there was a man of the Pharisees, named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews. It doesn’t say, but I assume it is still during this time of the Passover. This man came to Jesus by night. Rabbi, we know that You have come from God as a teacher; for no one can do the signs that You do unless God is with him. It just said that the people believed in His name because of the signs He was doing; yet it does not say what those signs were. Unless one is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God. That is why unbelievers cannot tell what is of the kingdom of God and what is not – they’re not born again. Nicodemus doesn’t have a clue. How can a man be born when he is old? He cannot enter a second time into his mother’s womb and be born, can he? Unless one is born of water and the Spirit ...
