Good morning. Today we are going to look at verse 25 of chapter 7 of Hebrews: hence, also, He is able to save forever those who draw near to God through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them. Our salvation is forever and not sometime in the future. It starts now. In the Old Testament the people could not draw near to God; but we can. We can come into His presence with boldness. This is because of what Jesus did on the cross. It says He always lives to make intercession for us. Jesus is the one who's making intercession for us. We don't have to depend on some human or on some saint who died centuries ago to make intercession for us. We don't have to worry about Him stopping or about Him dying. He does it forever. We have a personal savior, a personal God. He's making intercession for you right now Rani. What do you need – what do you want? Just ask Him, and He will intercede for you. Father in Jesus name today and every day meet the reader’s every ne...

Good morning. Today we are going to look at verse 10 of chapter 6 of the book of Hebrews. For God is not unjust so as to forget your work and the love which you have shown toward His name, in having ministered and in still ministering to the Saints. It's so easy to feel like God does not appreciate what we do for Him and for other believers. It's easy to think "what's the use?": no one sees and no one cares. This is especially true for those whose language of love is serving others. Serving others is one of the five languages of love in the book by Gary Chapman. How we show our love is how we feel love from others. If your child or other person's language is not giving gifts, then they won't appreciate as much when you give them lots of gifts. It may be your language, but it's not theirs. Oops! I forgot about Martha. Serving others may have been her language of love. So she was expressing her love for Jesus by serving Him. She was angry because Mary ...

Good morning. Hebrews 3:18 - 19; and to whom did He swear that they should not enter His rest, but to those who were disobedient? And so we see that they were not able to enter because of unbelief. Why did they disobey – why do we disobey? It's because of unbelief. We don't believe that He is going to do what He said He would. He told the children of Israel that He was giving them the Promised Land. They didn't believe Him, and so they rebelled. And because they rebelled they did not enter the Promised Land. They did not enter into His rest. We do the same thing. He has given us many promises in His word. He has also promised things to us personally in our hearts. But we are like Abraham. We try to help God out. God doesn't know how to do it; so we help Him. We do not let go and let God. We don't believe He is going to do it. He is going to do it. He is going to keep His word to you. Trust Him to do it. Enter His rest. Father help the reader to trust in You to ge...

Good morning. I hope you had a good day yesterday. While on my way to church yesterday morning, I realized that I had left something out that tied in to what we have been discussing. Samuel was born at the proper time. If he had been born earlier, Hannah would not have given him to the Lord. Samuel would just have had a normal life. He would've been loved by Hannah; but he would not have become the prophet of God that he was. He would have missed his destiny, and so would the nation of Israel. If he had been born later, it might've been too late for Israel. God knows what He's doing even if we don't. From chapter 2 of the book of Hebrews: therefore, He had to be made like His brethren in all things, that He might become a merciful and faithful high priest in things pertaining to God, to make propitiation for the sins of the people. For since He Himself was tempted in that which He has suffered, He is able to come to the aid of those who are tempted. It's too easy ...

Good morning. We are going to go back and look at Hannah the mother of Samuel. I cannot imagine how hard it would be to give up your only child, especially after you'd waited many years for him. But it's even more than that. You see as far as I know, the wife got no inheritance. She got no help from her husband who died. The inheritance went to the children; first of all to the sons if there were any. Remember the widow's mite? There was no one to take care of her. Also remember the widow in the village of Nain whose only son had died, and Jesus raised him from the dead. He was her only hope to take care of her. If Hannah's husband had died, his other wife's children would have received the inheritance. They would've taken care of their mother. But Hannah would've had no one to take care of her. Even though Samuel would be her only hope when she got old, she still vowed to give him to the Lord all the days of his life. As it talks about in first Timothy ch...

Good morning sleepyhead. In chapter 3 of Titus it talks about that we once were foolish disobedient, deceived. Because people are disobedient to God and His word, they are easily deceived by empty philosophy and the words of other people. Even after we are saved, we can still be deceived. We look for a quick fix. We too want an easy way out. And because we do, we too can be deceived. Verse four: but when the kindness of God our Savior and His love for mankind appeared. Remember from yesterday that it appeared at the proper time. Because it took such a long time, men started making up things of how to become righteous. They had the law; but that was not enough for them. They started making up things so that they could claim that they were righteous and others were not righteous. Man feels like he has to have some gauge of his righteousness - how can he know that he has arrived? Even after we are saved and know that we are – we need some way of feeling like we are approved by God. ...

Good morning. This is from verses two and three of chapter 1 of Titus: in the hope of eternal life, which God, who cannot lie, promise long ages ago, but at the proper time manifested. God had promised eternal life many many years before Jesus came. Why didn't He bring it about many years before? Because it wasn't the proper time. Probably only mathematicians can truly appreciate just how impossible it was for everything to come into place at the same time simply by chance. Many righteous people had been looking for the Messiah; but it wasn't the proper time. How does that apply to us? God has promised us things; but they haven't come to pass yet. Why not? There could be many different reasons; but the one we're going to look at: it's not the proper time. When is the proper time according to us? Now! We don't want to wait. We've got to have it now! Sadly sometimes we do get what we want – but it is the wrong thing, or the wrong time. Sometimes what we ...

Good morning. Remember, you are special! Verses 16 and 17 from the third chapter of second Timothy: all Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness; that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work. If it's not inspired it's not scripture. And because it is God inspired and living as the book of Hebrews tells us; then it will do whatever 16 says it will do - it will teach us what we should do. It will tell us when we're doing wrong – which people today don't want to hear. It will train us in righteousness. We need training because we don't know how we should behave. We are children with our training pants on. We still have training wheels on our bicycles. Nobody wants to hear that we're doing wrong; but we need it. What does verse 17 say it's for? That the man or woman of God may be adequate. Now the word adequate doesn't mean just barely good enough. It means en...

Good morning. Look up your redemption draweth nigh. This morning we're going to look at the first five verses of chapter 3 of second Timothy. Verse one: but realize of this, that in the last days difficult times will come. Really Paul? From what some people say I thought everything was supposed to be hunky-dory and Jesus would sweep us away avoiding all the problems. These are definitely difficult times. The next four versus describe the reality of today. It sounds like Paul could see today 2000 years ago. Men will be lovers of self, lovers of money, boastful, arrogant, revilers, disobedient to parents, ungrateful, unholy, unloving, irreconcilable, malicious gossips, without self-control, brutal, haters of good, treacherous, reckless, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God; (all of that is running rampant today as you well know), holding to a form of godliness, although they have denied its power; and avoid such men as these. That is so true today. It sounds and l...

Good morning. I hope you slept well. Today we're going to look at verse 12 of chapter 1 of second Timothy: but I am not ashamed; for I know whom I have believed and I am convinced that He is able to guard what I have entrusted to Him until that day. We are not believing some empty words of some dead philosopher who lived hundreds of years ago. We actually know the person whom we have believed. We didn't just read it, He spoke it into our hearts. He makes the word of God come alive in our hearts. We haven't just given our mental allegiance to some person. We have entrusted everything to Him; everything that is the true us. Again it is not just some philosophy – it is reality. We can trust Him to guard it until the very end. He's not going to lose it. We can trust Him that all is well; even when it doesn't look like it. Father in Jesus name help the reader today and every day to know with certainty that You are with her/him and that You are going to guide and protect...

Good morning. I hope the peace of God slept with you last night. Verses five and six of chapter 6 first Timothy: Constant friction between men of depraved mind and deprived of the truth, who suppose that godliness is the means of great gain. Now wait a minute Paul. Haven't you been talking about how good it is for godliness? Then he says but godliness actually is a means of great gain when accompanied by contentment. These men were talking about godliness in the sense of asceticism (wow where did that word come from?) they were doing it out of their own ability; don't do this - be sure to do that. There was no contentment in what they were doing. You see we can't achieve this godliness. Only God working in us can do that. Remember that it is God who gives you the will and the ability to do the work that achieves godliness. May you have a blessed day thinking only peaceful and happy thoughts

Good morning the best to you each morning k - e double - l - o - double good: you know the rest. Verse six of chapter 4 in first Timothy: constantly nourished on the words of the faith and of the sound doctrine which you have been following. So, we are not to be nourished just on that cereal each morning: but on the words of the faith and sound doctrine. It's the word from which we get our spiritual nourishment; it's not that cereal each morning. And just like we should not be skipping the nourishment of food – we should not be skipping the nourishment of the word. Our bodies have to have the nourishment of the food; and so our spirit and soul have to have the nourishment of the word. Without the proper food our bodies suffer; without the proper word our spirit and soul suffer. Just like we need good food; so we need to hear good words. The word will help lead us to godliness. Verse eight: godliness is profitable for all things, since it holds promise for the present life an...

Good morning. We are going to start with something from chapter 1 of first Timothy. In verse 13 Paul talks about: even though I was formerly a blasphemer and a persecutor and a violent aggressor. And yet I was shown mercy, because I acted ignorantly in unbelief. And yet we all acted ignorantly in unbelief, no matter how "good" we were. When I asked Jesus to come in and take control of my life, I called a friend in Hattiesburg Mississippi, where I got my Master’s degree. I told her that I had become a Christian and she said "I always thought you were a Christian". You see my behavior was good as far as everyone thought, but I didn't know Jesus. I wasn't like Paul. I went to church a lot. But I was not saved. What is the message – whether you are "good" like I was, or an aggressor and persecutor of the church like Paul, we all need to get saved. You can't be too good to not need saving; nor have you done anything too bad that you can't get...

Good morning. Today we going to look at some things from the second chapter of second Thessalonians. Verse 13: but we should always give thanks to God for you, brethren beloved by the Lord, because God has chosen you from the beginning for salvation through sanctification by the Spirit and faith in the truth. You are beloved by the Lord. Not only did God choose you from the beginning for salvation, but it was through sanctification by the Spirit and faith in the truth. Remember from yesterday that God Himself will sanctify you entirely. He didn't just choose us to get our fire insurance. He chose us for sanctification. If we do walk in that sanctification, then we have to obey what Paul says in verse six of Chapter 3: keep aloof from every brother who leads and unruly life and not according to the tradition which we received from those in the Lord. Remember bad company corrupts good morals. If our friends are doing wrong things, it's only a matter of time before we do too. I p...

Good morning. Today we're going to look at verses 23 and 24 of chapter 5 of first Thessalonians. Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you entirely; and may your spirit and soul and body be preserved complete, without blame at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. Faithful is He who calls you, and He also will bring it to pass. You see we are the ones that are trying to sanctify ourselves. But we can't do it. No matter how hard we try, and we do, we can't. He has to do it. But we don't like that because we are not the ones in control. It requires surrender of our will. When we do, then He is free to complete the process. Verse 23 reminds us that we are three parts; spirit, soul, and body. All three will be made complete by Him - without blame! How great is that! How do we know that it will happen? Verse 24 tells us: because He is faithful. He's going to do it for you. You just have to let Him. So let go and let God.

Good morning. Starting with verse 13 of chapter 4 in first Thessalonians: but we do not want you to be uninformed, brethren, about those who are asleep, that you may not grieve, as do the rest who have no hope. For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with Him those who have fallen asleep in Jesus. It then goes on and talks about the dead in Christ rising first and those who are alive after that. Verse 18: therefore comfort one another with these words. Verse 10 of Chapter 5: whether we are awake or sleep, we may live together with him. Therefore encourage one another, and build up one another, just as you are also doing. It's been years since my parents died, so I can be comforted with those words. I don't know how much those words would comfort you, if it's only been a short time for you. I'm sure it's still very painful. I don't see signs of my parents every day; but I'm sure you do of your loved one. I'm not reminde...

Good morning. Today we're going to start in the middle of verse 13 of chapter 2 of first Thessalonians: You accepted it not as the word of men, but for what it really is, the word of God, which also performs its work in you who believe. Wow! This word that we are looking at every morning is not man's word but God's word. This is not the word of some philosopher, but the word of the living God. Not only is God living but also His word is living as we know from verse 12 of chapter 4 of Hebrews. It is able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart. I'm sure we will look at that again when we get to Hebrews. Back to Thessalonians: we need to allow this word of God to perform its work in us. We resist because we don't like what it shows us about ourselves. We want to do our own thing. We don't want someone or something telling us not to do something; or telling us to do something. It's hard to stop resisting and allow the Holy Spirit to work in us; to us...

Good morning. Let's look at verse six of Colossians chapter 4: let your speech always be with Grace, as though seasoned with salt, so that you will know how you should respond to each person. Too many times our speech is seasoned with pepper instead of salt; especially towards those who are closest to us. Someone says something to us that we don't like, and we immediately fire back at them. Or perhaps something else is bothering us, and they just happened to say something at the wrong time. True sometimes they are obnoxious; or perhaps they always treat us badly. But we are always supposed to speak with Grace. We never know when what we say may bring them to God. In verse 16 of chapter 3 it says: let the word of Christ richly dwell within you, with all wisdom teaching and admonishing one another with psalms and hymns and spiritual songs singing with thankfulness in your hearts to God. Now that sounds like speech seasoned with grace!

Good morning! You will never guess what we're going to talk about today. Give me an M. Give me an i. Give me an n. Give me a d. What do you have - you know. They say you are what you eat. In the Christian life you are what you think. Colossians chapter 3: if then you have been raised up with Christ, keep seeking the things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your mind on things above, not on the things that are on the earth. For you have died and your life is hidden with Christ in God. Where is your mind today; on things above or on things here on the earth? I have been there too many times myself. The first thing you think of in the morning is the problem; not the problem solver. You're afraid to answer the phone because it might be a bill collector. When it is morning you wish it were night; and when it's night you wish it were morning. Your mind and your will are the key! Set your mind on things above - that is where the problem solver is. Fathe...

Good morning. In Colossians chapter 1 verse 21 - 22: and although you were formerly alienated and hostile in mind (there is that mind thing again), engaged in evil deeds, yet He has now reconciled you in His fleshly body through death, in order to present to you before Him holy and blameless and beyond reproach. Wow! Can you believe it – Holy, blameless, and beyond reproach? That is not the way we think of ourselves. Oops, there's that mind again. We have to straighten out our thinking; and then start acting the way we are supposed to. If you think of yourself as a worm, you will act like a worm. Instead think of yourself as that transformed butterfly and then act like one. You are what He says you are!

Good morning - Rejoice! At least that's what Paul says in Philippians chapter 4 verse four. In verse six He says be anxious for nothing (how hard is that?), but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your request be made known to God. And the peace of God which surpasses all comprehension, shall guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. We are not just saying Oh please, please, please help me God! We are saying it with Thanksgiving – we are thanking Him that He is going to answer our prayer. We are trusting Him to answer our prayer. Only then will the peace of God guard our hearts and our minds in Christ Jesus. How do we do that? Verse eight: whatever is true, honorable, right, pure, lovely, of good repute, excellence, worthy of praise, we let our mind dwell on those things. How many times does it come back to: our minds? I believe God has a word for you personally. Stay the course! I don't know what He's talking about but don't vary ...

Good morning! This morning we're looking at Philippians 3:20: for our citizenship is in heaven, from which also we wait eagerly for a Savior - the Lord Jesus Christ. As the song says, this world is not our home. Sadly, we act like it is. Here on earth is where our minds are almost always; except of course on Sundays. In the end, what happens here doesn't matter. But when things do happen here, it's hard to keep our minds off of them. You've heard the saying, he's so heavenly minded he's no earthly good. Sadly today the saying should be: he's so earthly minded he's no heavenly good. So today try to remember where your citizenship is - in heaven.

Good morning! At first it looked like there would not be much of anything then wow! There is an overabundance. In Philippians chapter 2 starting in the middle of verse 12 through verse 13: work out your salvation with fear and trembling; for it is God who is at work in you, both to will and to work for His good pleasure. Too many times we are the ones doing the work and not God. We have to look to Him to see what it is that we are supposed to do. A lot of times we do things because we think we should, or we think others think we should. It doesn't matter what we think or others think; it is what God thinks. He, God, is the one doing the work, not us. Not only that; he also gives us the will to do the work. All in all; it is God!

This morning I was reading about putting on the full armor of God in Ephesians chapter 6. I know you've heard a lot of good sermons about all the different pieces of the armor; but that's not what this is about. Imagine if you will a soldier back then. Every morning when he woke up, he had to put on the full armor. He could not leave anything out. It took time to put everything on, and it wasn't light. And yet most of the time he didn't really need it. But the one day he did not put it on, that would be the day of a surprise attack. We have to put on the full armor of God every morning, because we don't know when there might be a surprise attack. It's like they say about the terrorist; we have to be right 100% of the time. They have to be right only once. It all comes back to renewing our mind. And so this morning put on the full armor of God; and be sure to take up that sword of the spirit which is the word of God!

Second Corinthians 5:17 therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature; the old things passed away; behold, new things to come. The problem is we still think like that old creature; and so we act like that old creature. And we also react like that old creature to things that are said and done. We have to be transformed like a caterpillar into a butterfly by the renewing of our mind as in Romans 12:2. We won't act like a new creature until we start thinking like a new creature.

Good morning! I did not feel like what I was studying today in the Bible was for you. The impression was to look at James 5:16. The effective prayer of a righteous man can accomplish much. You are righteous; and so your prayer can be effective. It can do what needs to be done. From Mark 11 you can have what you say; so say it and believe it! Have a super day!

In verse 20 it says that He is able to do far more abundantly beyond all that we ask or think - now get this - according to the power that works within us! The power that created the universe is working inside of us! Look inside you today. That is where the power is coming from to take care of everything that you need done. Good Morning. Happy New Year 2018! As I was looking at my notes in my Bible this morning on Ephesians 1:14 (you were sealed in Him with the Holy Spirit of promise, who is given as a pledge of our inheritance), I was reminded what Vine's Expository Dictionary says about the word used for pledge. In modern Greek it means engagement ring. The Holy Spirit is our engagement ring! Then what will the wedding band be - our glorified body?
