Good morning sleepyhead. In chapter 3 of Titus it talks about that we once were foolish disobedient, deceived. Because people are disobedient to God and His word, they are easily deceived by empty philosophy and the words of other people. Even after we are saved, we can still be deceived. We look for a quick fix. We too want an easy way out. And because we do, we too can be deceived. Verse four: but when the kindness of God our Savior and His love for mankind appeared. Remember from yesterday that it appeared at the proper time. Because it took such a long time, men started making up things of how to become righteous. They had the law; but that was not enough for them. They started making up things so that they could claim that they were righteous and others were not righteous. Man feels like he has to have some gauge of his righteousness - how can he know that he has arrived? Even after we are saved and know that we are – we need some way of feeling like we are approved by God. If I just do enough good things God will approve of me. I will be acceptable to Him - if I read X number of verses and pray Y number of minutes each day, then God will approve of me. We would be in control of the working out of our salvation. But it is God who needs to be in control. Today and every day allow God to be in control of your life. He may take away some things that you do, or He may add some things for you to do. Allow Him to direct your life every day.
