Good morning!
You will never guess what we're going to talk about today. Give me an M. Give
me an i. Give me an n. Give me a d. What do you have - you know. They say you
are what you eat. In the Christian life you are what you think. Colossians
chapter 3: if then you have been raised up with Christ, keep seeking the things
above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your mind on
things above, not on the things that are on the earth. For you have died and
your life is hidden with Christ in God. Where is your mind today; on things
above or on things here on the earth? I have been there too many times myself.
The first thing you think of in the morning is the problem; not the problem
solver. You're afraid to answer the phone because it might be a bill collector.
When it is morning you wish it were night; and when it's night you wish it were
morning. Your mind and your will are the key! Set your mind on things above -
that is where the problem solver is. Father, in Jesus name, help the reader to
set his/her mind on You and not on the problem.
Therefore I exhort you, be imitators of me
Good morning. Paul then gives a list of a lot of things that he has gone through as an apostle. I do not write these things to shame you, but to admonish you as my beloved children. For if you were to have countless tutors in Christ, yet you would not have many fathers, for in Christ Jesus I became your father through the gospel. There could be many people that you listen to either in church or through the Internet or other means; but there was only one person (as a general rule it was a person) that lead you to Christ. Therefore I exhort you, be imitators of me. He was saying that just like a child imitates his or her father, they were to imitate him. He says that again seven chapters later. Since it is easy to forget some things about people we have not seen in a while, Paul says that he sent Timothy to them to remind them of his ways which are in Christ, just as he taught everywhere in every church.
