Good morning. Speaking of Jesus: since then the children share in flesh and blood, He Himself  likewise also partook of the same, that through death He might render powerless him who had the power of death, that is, the devil. God did not just go "poof" and make us His children. He actually became flesh and blood. As such, He experienced what unredeemed man experiences when he dies. Through death He made the devil powerless. Before that, the fear of death controlled mankind. He experienced death so that He might deliver those who through the fear of death were subject to slavery all their lives. He does not give help to angels, but He gives help to the descendant of Abraham. Remember that through faith we are also children of Abraham. Therefore, He had to be made like His brethren in all things, that He might become a merciful and faithful high priest in things pertaining to God, to make propitiation for the sins of the people. The high priest once a year had to sprinkle blood on the mercy seat on the arc of the covenant to make propitiation for the people. That was to make peace with God; so that God would change His mind and not take out His wrath upon the people because of their sins. Hebrews will talk more about that later. Father thank You that the reader does not have to fear death. He/she has nothing to fear from the devil.
