Good morning. Today if you hear His voice do not harden your
hearts as when they provoked Me. For who provoked Him when they had heard?
Indeed, did not all those who came out of Egypt led by Moses? And with whom was
He angry for 40 years? Was it not with those who sinned whose bodies fell in
the wilderness? And to whom did He swear that they should not enter His rest,
but to those who were disobedient? And so we see that they were not able to
enter because of unbelief. The reason people disobey is because they don't
believe God's word. When God says not to do something or else ... , He means
it. Or if He says to do something or else ... , He means that also. And so they
were not able to enter into God's rest – they died in the wilderness. If they
had entered into the Promised Land, they would not have entered into His rest;
and they would've kept all of the others from entering into His rest also.
Sadly the same thing is true today. There are those who are in the church who
will keep all the others from entering into God's Promised Land – into His rest
by their unbelief and disobedience. Therefore, let us fear lest, while a
promise remains of entering His rest, anyone of you should seem to have come
short of it. There is nothing as frustrating as having a goal and coming just
short of it. It is better to miss by a mile then to miss by an inch. Father
thank You that the reader has entered into Your rest. He/she believes what You
say, and obeys Your word. To make your day, here is a joke from Facebook.
A newly appointed young preacher was contacted by the local
funeral director to hold a graveside committal service at a small country
cemetery in Iowa. There was to be no funeral, just the committal, because the
deceased had no family or friends left in Iowa. The young pastor started early
to the cemetery, but soon lost his way. After making several wrong turns, he
finally arrived a half-hour late. The hearse was nowhere in sight, and the
workmen were relaxing under a nearby tree, eating their lunch. The pastor went
to the open grave and found that the vault lid was already in place. He took
out his book and read the service in its entirety. As he returned to his car,
he overheard one of the workmen say: "Maybe we'd better tell him that's
the septic tank."
