Good morning. So what
should our response be to what we've heard so far? Let us therefore draw near
with confidence to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and may find
grace to help in time of need. Remember that those who are of the light come to
the light. And we come with confidence – not in fear and trembling. We don't
have to fear that our request will be rejected. He then talks about the human
high priest who offered sacrifices for sins. He can deal gently with the
ignorant since he himself also is beset with weakness. Therefore he has to
offer sacrifices, not only for the people, but also for himself. Christ did not
glorify Himself so as to become a high priest. God is the One who designated
Him a high priest according to the order of Melchizedek; not according to the
order of Aaron. In the garden of Gethsemane Jesus requested that the cup be
taken from Him. He was heard because of His piety. He learned obedience from
the things which He suffered. None of us could have done that. We would have
begged for the 10,000 Angels. The other things that God asked Him to do were
nothing in comparison to this. He agonized inwardly before He did outwardly. Of
course it was not just the physical pain that He was agonizing over. If Jesus
obeyed that command, how could we refuse to obey any command that God would give
us? Father thank You that the reader always obeys Your every command. He/she
walks in the light of Your word through the Holy Spirit every day, and draws
near with confidence to the throne of grace
So the other disciple who had first come to the tomb then also entered, and he saw and believed
Good morning. We left John at the entrance of the tomb, stooping and looking in. “Shy” Peter then arrives following John, and enters the tomb; and he saw the linen wrappings lying there. So the other disciple, John, who had first come to the tomb then also entered, and he saw and believed. It does not say whether or not Peter believed. For as yet they did not understand the scripture, that He must rise again from the dead. So the disciples went away again to their own homes. I’m not exactly sure what it means by their own homes. They were originally from Galilee and would not have had homes in Jerusalem. Perhaps it means the homes where they were staying while in Jerusalem. Apparently, they were not staying in the upper room, or it would have said so. But Mary was standing outside the tomb weeping; and so, as she wept, she stooped (just like John) and looked into the tomb. She saw two angels in white sitting, one at the head and one at the feet, where the body of Jesus had been l...
