Good morning. For this
reason He is the mediator of a new covenant, in order that since a death has
taken place for the redemption of the transgressions that were committed under
the first covenant, those who have been called may receive the promise of the
eternal inheritance. Under the old covenant every time a sin was committed the
death of an animal had to occur. With the new covenant there was a one-time
offering for sin – Jesus. As a result, we who have been called receive the
promise of the eternal inheritance. If we inherit something from someone while
we are alive, the inheritance lasts only while we're still living. This
inheritance lasts even after we die. Where there is a covenant there must of
necessity be the death of the one who made it. For a covenant is valid only
when men are dead, for it is never enforced while the one who made it lives.
While they are alive, they don't need a covenant. It is only after that they
are dead that you need a document stating the agreement. While they are alive,
they keep it on their own honor. He then talks about Moses sprinkling blood on
everything to cleanse it. He then mentions that Jesus offered Himself only
once. He does not need to do it year after year like the blood of animals was
needed by the high priest every year. In as much as it is appointed for man to
die once and after that comes judgment, so Christ also, having been offered
once to bear the sins of many, He shall appear a second time for salvation
without sin, to those who eagerly await Him. Father thank You that Jesus
offered Himself for our sins. Through Him we have an eternal salvation and
inheritance.
So the other disciple who had first come to the tomb then also entered, and he saw and believed
Good morning. We left John at the entrance of the tomb, stooping and looking in. “Shy” Peter then arrives following John, and enters the tomb; and he saw the linen wrappings lying there. So the other disciple, John, who had first come to the tomb then also entered, and he saw and believed. It does not say whether or not Peter believed. For as yet they did not understand the scripture, that He must rise again from the dead. So the disciples went away again to their own homes. I’m not exactly sure what it means by their own homes. They were originally from Galilee and would not have had homes in Jerusalem. Perhaps it means the homes where they were staying while in Jerusalem. Apparently, they were not staying in the upper room, or it would have said so. But Mary was standing outside the tomb weeping; and so, as she wept, she stooped (just like John) and looked into the tomb. She saw two angels in white sitting, one at the head and one at the feet, where the body of Jesus had been l...
