Good morning. So we have seen that the children of Israel had good news preached to them, and they failed to enter because of disobedience. Centuries later God spoke through David: today if you hear His voice do not harden your heart. For if Joshua had given them rest, He would not have spoken of another day after that. There remains therefore a Sabbath rest for the people of God. For the one who has entered His rest has himself also rested from his works, as God did from His. Let us therefore be diligent to enter that rest, lest anyone fall through following the same example of disobedience. Some people are still working for their salvation. Salvation is by grace not by works. However, if one is saved, one should be doing good works. You don't have to "work up" your works. It should be a naturally supernatural thing. We do not want to follow the disobedience of the children of Israel. How will we be judged as to whether or not we obey the word? For the word of God is living and active and sharper than any two edged sword, and piercing as far as the division of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart. That is very powerful! It is not just some dead word written by someone dead prophet. It is alive. Just like it is hard to tell without the aid of a microscope where the joint leaves off and the marrow begins, so it is hard to tell where the spirit leaves off and the soul begins. Is that our soul or our spirit that is saying to do this or to do that? Sometimes we cannot tell – or don't want to be able to tell – which it is. We want what we want when we want it. The word through the Holy Spirit will know our heart. Just like you “cannot fool mother nature”, you cannot fool the word of God through the Holy Spirit. Father thank You that the reader has entered Your rest. He/she follows Your word and obeys Your Spirit.
