Good morning. Today we are in Hebrews chapter 2. For this reason we must pay closer attention to what we have heard, lest we drift away from it. Just sitting in church on Sunday morning listening to the word is not enough. It can go in one ear and out the other without pausing in between. It's too easy to only hear what we want to hear. The word is a mirror showing what's inside of us. So if the words spoken through angels proved unalterable (speaking of the Old Testament), and every transgression and disobedience received a just recompense, how shall we escape if we neglect so great a salvation? Sometimes people get too comfortable in their salvation. It's not just a bunch of words as the rest of the verse proclaims: "After it was at the first spoken through the Lord, it was confirmed to us by those who heard". This wasn't just some man or woman that spoke the words. It was the Lord Jesus Christ! If He said it, we should do it. God also bearing witness with them, both by signs and wonders and by various miracles and by gifts of the Holy Spirit according to His own will. The unbelievers needed signs to convince them; but we are already convinced - we just need to do what God's Word says. Father help the reader to pay close attention to what he/she has heard. Help him/her to not neglect this great salvation; but rather to show forth that salvation every day of his/her life.
